Elaine Perkins

How long have you been working in insurance? About 30 years. Before I came to CGH, I handled Property and Casualty claims for All Risk Insurance Company and Amerisure Ins. Co.

What’s your average day like? I arrive at work every morning around 7:30 am so that I can get that first cup of coffee and get my desk organized.  I make sure if someone is out that the calls are covered for the day.  I coordinate work flow within the claims department.   I review the new claims that come in to get set up and out to each adjuster, do the validation for all the checks, including the branch offices.  I complete 30-day file reviews on all new claims and assist the adjusters on questions they may have or just give suggestions on the direction of the claim.   I work closely with the Third Party account and the adjusters assigned to the account. I guess you would say I turn my hat many ways during the day to make sure we are giving the best service possible.

Do you often deal with claimants? I deal with claimants every day, may be a call just to find out when was my check mailed or if they do have a complaint, find out what the problem is and resolve it.

Hurricane Katrina, One Year Later

Although Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana continue to feel the effects from Hurricane Katrina, the area is moving quickly ahead with rebuilding. More than $24 billion in storm damage claims has been paid by insurers, according to Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI).

With half a million insurance claims filed as a result of Katrina, it is estimated that insurers will have expended roughly $16.8 billion in homeowners, commercial property, business and personal/commercial auto claims to policyholders in Louisiana and $8 billion to those in Mississippi for their losses during the storm, according to PCI.

Many of those claims have already been addressed. Insurers have settled 658,700 homeowners claims (94.8% of expected) in Louisiana, amounting to $10.3 billion, and 334,800 (94.3%) of homeowners claims in Mississippi totaling $5.2 billion. Almost all of the 305,000 auto claims from vehicles damaged during the storm also have been settled for a total of $2 billion in the two states.

Marketing Means You!

Marketing is all the little, seemingly insignificant and often bothersome things that a company does day in and day out to attract and hold a customer.

Marketing is about doing one thing right: Marketing is the task of constantly “pulling customers” closer and closer to your company, product or service so that they decide that it is in their best interest to do business with you.

When we all pitch in to make our customers feel this way, we all WIN.
