Workers Comp fraud threatening industry,
says Buffett
Every dollar spent combating insurance fraud results in more than $10 in savings.

Every dollar spent combating insurance fraud results in more than $10 in savings, according to the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc.

“There’s plenty of fraud in various aspects of insurance,” said Warren E. Buffett, the chairman of Omaha based Berkshire Hathaway, during the company’s annual meeting on May 1.

Mr. Buffett’s comments about fraud came in response to a shareholder question about fraud perpetrated by insurers upon policyholders.

“So... What Do You All Do In MIS?”
“HELP!!!!!!!!!!!”
(l to r) Tammy Fox, Corey Chambliss,
Jason Helms, Carl Legate.

Perhaps the above subject line I received recently in an email says it best about what we do in MIS. From writing reports in ICAMS to fending off viruses to distributing 1099 forms, MIS performs a variety of functions and assistance for CGH and its subsidiaries that you might not have been aware of. We keep the southeastern corner of the corporate office buzzing with technical talk, good ideas and loud air conditioners (if you’ve ever ventured into the data center, you know what we’re talking about).

Retirement

Judy Kohan (PA office) is retiring after 13 years of dedicated service to American Mining Insurance Company/CGH Insurance Group. On July 8, 1991, Judy was the first employee hired in the Johnstown office by branch manager, Dale Thompson. Judy was instrumental in forming the day to day operations that are in place today. Her dedication, commitment and personality played a large part in establishing American Mining's presence in Pennsylvania. She is retiring on May 28, 2004, and will be greatly missed by all.

After retirement, she and husband Bob (who has been retired for a year) plan to visit their children. The oldest is a 5th grade teacher in Maryland and the youngest is getting a Master's degree in PA. They also plan to visit Florida--hopefully in winter to avoid some of the snowy PA weather. But first, it is time to remodel their kitchen, as Judy and Bob will both have more time to spend at home (and on vacation).
