American Mining Mission

Getting to Know Kari Wilson

Kari is a new member of our Lexington, Kentucky office, working on West Virginia Claims.

How long have you been with American Mining? I started with American Mining in November as part of the hire for WV claim service.

Where did you work before joining us? How long have you been in the insurance industry?  I spent most of my insurance history prior to American Mining working in Charleston WV as a claims manager for Third Party Administrators in WV Workers Compensation.  We handled regular subscriber accounts as well as Self-Insured accounts. Although I handled some coal mining companies, I specialized in school boards and manufacturing plants.

How are things different than where you worked before? The rules have changed quite a bit since I left.  I look forward to learning the new policies and procedures with my fellow staff at American Mining.

Have you lived in Lexington long?  I lived in Lexington on and off since 2nd grade.  I try to take advantage of the areas parks and hiking areas.

Tell us a little bit about your personal life. What do you enjoy doing when not in the office? How about family? Hobbies?  I am recently married, have 2 sons (16 & 17) and an eight-year old step daughter.  When I am not at work, I am usually doing something with my family.  When the weather is nice, we enjoy going to the parks, hiking, playing ball or just being out in the sun.

Enjoying our first ever First Friday Pizza Party

AMIC Pizza Party

Starting a new tradition for all the offices: We'll be enjoying delicious pizza the first Friday of every month! If you missed it this month, you missed some great pizza (the home office, shown above, had pizza from local pizzeria Dave's) and some good company. Make sure to enjoy the fun in April!
