| Claims Happen, Continued
With
the addition of Pat Ballock in Birmingham,
a determined claims unit was established. Rising medical
costs affect our bottom line now more than ever. Often
resolution of a claim does not include our future medical
exposure. Pat’s extensive medical background is
proving to be invaluable in mitigating ongoing medical
expenses.
Our
Birmingham claims department has been reorganized to
function more as a stand-alone claims operation. Elaine
Perkins is the supervisor of the Birmingham
operation. In addition, Birmingham provides support
to the branch offices. Ted Roose continues
to be responsible for all our claim operations. Donna
Shenesky has been added to the Home Office
staff handling a multitude of compliance issues, both
internal and external.
In addition to Workers’ Compensation,
staff members in each of our offices handle multi-line
claims for the other lines we insure. They are often
faced with unusual and challenging claim circumstances.
Our Lexington office is enjoying settling
into their new location. They handle multi-line claims
as well.
We pride ourselves in reviewing every
open claim on an ongoing basis. Quarterly, Home Office
staff meets with each adjuster to discuss claim activity
and reserve issues. Nowhere in the insurance industry
will you find a claims staff that keeps a closer eye
on losses than AMIC!!
Beyond handling AMIC claims our Third
Party Administration companies provide multi-line claim
services for other carriers, self-insured employers
and guarantee funds.
As Horace Greely said “GO WEST.”
We are excited about our growing opportunities in several
western states!!
