Workers Compensation Rate Increases Slowing

According to an article in the January 12, 2004 issue of Business Insurance, rate increases for workers compensation are slowing.

During 2003, there has been a general “deceleration” of workers comp premium increases according to several brokers interviewed for the article.

“Carriers are still seeking larger rate increases”, but in the end the increase has often gone only to 10%, said Craig Simon, managing director and national casualty practice leader for the New York based Willis North America.

Giving Back in Johnstown, PA

Dale Thompson is a man of many talents. From keeping fresh water fish to painting and building things in his workshop, he's always busy. Here's his story about "BEEZER," his Christmas 2003 project:

About a year ago I saw a picture of a wooden burro in a magazine. I was somewhat intrigued by it, so I bought the plans. Then last summer I finally got around to building one. When "BEEZER" the burro was completed I was pleased with the results and everyone who saw it made a fuss over it. For the past couple of years I've been wanting to make something for less fortunate kids at Christmas, but could not come up with a good idea. more>>>

Promotions and New Hires

Elaine Perkins has been promoted to Senior Claims Supervisor. Elaine joined the Company on February 15, 1993 (photos of her 10th Anniversary Party are here). Prior to joining us, she held claims adjuster positions with Amerisure, Rockwood Insurance Company and Gay & Taylor.

Genevieve Noble has been promoted to Assistant Branch Manager, Lexington office. Gen joined our Company on August 22, 2002. Prior to joining us, she was Sr. Litigation/Large Loss Examiner for Kentucky Employers Mutual Insurance (KEMI). She also held claims adjusting positions with Great American Insurance, Crawford & Company and Old Republic Insurance Company.
