Christmas Party at the Home Office

This year's Home Office Christmas party was held at the historic Alabama Theatre (a real treat for history buffs). With delicious food catered by B&A Warehouse, the evening began at 5 p.m. and ended in a viewing of the Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life, complete with organ music. Read on about the historic Alabama Theatre and visit the CGH photo album.

Johnstown, PA Office Relocates

Looking out the window of the new PA office
towards the first ever PA office.

The Johnstown, PA office has moved locations, effective November 16th from 941 PineGrove Lane to 322 Warren St., about 3 miles apart. This move went much smoother than the move we did previously—we actually were never without phone service. Everyone pitched in and helped with transporting the computers and their own desk contents.
All in all there were no incidents or damage to property. Everyone loves the new office. Take a short photographic tour, including this photo, looking out the office window at the first AMIC office building we opened in 1991.

Sharing Stories, Sharing Recipes, Sharing Memories

From Chan Cox
Hutcheson Family Elba Barbeque
This is an old family recipe that goes back at least five generations. It originated in Elba, Alabama and was served only at special family occasions and holidays. However, it is best known for being served whenever a female member of the family was being “courted” by a male and the family approved. My great grandmother served it to my grandfather while he was “courting” my grandmother. They were engaged shortly thereafter. Likewise, my grandmother served it to my father and my mother served it to my sister’s husband. This fall, we served it to Bobby DeBardeleben just prior to his marriage to Heather Giovannelli.

Claims Department Audit

AMIC received an excellent report from General Reinsurance Corporation on the results of their recent audit of claim files. The report complimented AMIC’s adjusters and nurses in controlling medical costs of workers compensation claims and noted that AMIC was going a few steps further than most insurance companies in controlling drug usage. Along with controlling the cost of drugs, the report noted that AMIC adjusters are focusing on necessity of medical treatment.. Congratulations to the Claims Department!
