West Virginia continued

We had our first “Stewardship” meeting a week ago and the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner seem pleased with everyone’s progress so far. Donna presented our “where have we been and where are we going” while Dom visited with the Deputy Commissioner regarding some general topics. We are currently in the big crunch to meet a required triage deadline by April 30th. All claims must be reviewed with an eye toward specific areas as promised in our proposal. We are reviewing medical issues, legal issues, setting reserves and formulating Action Plans. The Office of the Insurance Commission needs good, accurate claim counts and reserve estimates to get a handle on the universe of claims included in the “Old Fund.”

Next we are planning a series of visits to the branches with various personnel from the WV Office of the Insurance Commission. Someone from the Legal Department and possibly Claims Services will be visiting in April. Larry Della Vedova and Dawn Lindemann of DDP Group Inc. have been instrumental in the oversight of the entire transition of approximately 40,000 claims that are part of the Old State Fund. They will be visiting the branches also. The Deputy Commissioner, Bill Kenny, has also expressed an interest in visiting the branches to meet our staff.
